Creating a master piece with a piece of pen and paper is not that easy as it seems. In most of the cases, writers do commit such stupid mistakes out of ignorance that leads their write ups turn into a scrap. Usage of superfluous or high-end words is one of the common mistakes that every author does frequently. Whether it is an article, an essay or a story, some authors, especially the inexperienced newbies, use random high-end words to create an impression on the readers’ minds. But, actually such a practice creates a negative impression on their minds and soon they discard the write up.
Nothing can beat simple words
There is no alternative of using simple colloquial words that readers hear in their everyday life. Authors often try to exaggerate the descriptive part of their write ups by using unnecessary words. As an author, you must remember, when you are writing something for the readers you need to concentrate on their capabilities. Some authors take pride on using such words as because they think this practice will showcase their volume of vocabulary to the world. But, this is a complete false notion because nobody likes to turn the pages of dictionary while reading something. They just love to relax and fill their minds the subject any author wants them to grasp. But, the use of high-end words makes them stumble upon each paragraph. They immediately leave it marking your so called ‘masterpiece’ as ‘bogus’.
Loosen readers’ interest
When the readers come across such unnecessary words, they start feeling dull and the interest of reading turns off very soon. Because of the busy schedule readers these days don’t figure out time to read things even if they prefer reading. So, it’s hard to grab their attention. Moreover, if you start injecting difficult words into their heads they will possibly through your write up in the basket. While you are writing for others you must put strength on creating something with which readers can easily relate to. You must make sure that you produce something unknown in a language that is known to them.
Ways to ignore high-end words
There are certain simple rules that can help you to change your writing pattern. Firstly, don’t search for high-end synonyms of the words you already know. Just stick to the phrase that has a common use. Secondly, cut down the words those unnecessarily complicate the description. For example, if you write something like ‘we loved the touch of green grass while walking through the park’. You can easily omit the word ‘green’ because readers already know that the grass is nothing but green and this color has nothing to do with making the ‘touch’ better. Thirdly, before finalizing your write up, read it out loud and clear and try to judge your writing from a reader’s perspective.
These important techniques will help you to get rid of the superfluous words those fly around your mind on the time you start writing. Just boost up your confidence and create something unique with the common language.
